Liturgies and Retreats

The Retreat Program is a particular highlight for the Year 11 & 12 students. The Retreats provide time away from the busy life at school and at home, and allow for important reflection time for the senior students. The opportunity to reflect on life journeys and consider future paths in a deeply spiritual sense is valued by both the students and the teachers who work with them. It is period of growth for the students as a group and lays the foundation for them to support each other through their final school years. The liturgies celebrated together are emotional and bonding experiences, fostering an appreciation of each other and the beautiful bush in which they are conducted.

College liturgies are celebrated throughout the year. The start of the school year is marked with the Opening Mass where the Student College Leaders are inducted, new staff members are commissioned and the new students are welcomed. The Year 12 students, who act as ministers from the local parishes, begin the Lenten period on Ash Wednesday with the distribution of Ashes and the raising of funds for Project Compassion. The Way of the Cross has become a tradition in the College, and this liturgy retraces the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Emmanuel Day promotes justice issues and our sharing some of our resources with those not so fortunate. The Year 9 Formal Liturgy, and the Graduation Mass for Year 12s, mark Rites of Passage for these students.

Students are encouraged to be involved in liturgies with their class, with their year level and with the whole school as the College endeavours to assist in the development of optimistic, capable young people.
